Funded by Arkansas’ HIRED Grant program, LiTHIUMLEARNS focuses on developing a talent pipeline for the local critical minerals sector, partnering with industry, regional colleges, and K-12 districts to enhance STEM education and workforce training. Through interactive experiments, students will gain exposure to STEM related learning and foster workforce skills for the region’s growing lithium industry.

"We are extremely grateful for our partnership with Smackover Lithium," said Sheryl Edwards, Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Southern Arkansas University and Director of LiTHIUMLEARNS. "This generous donation is a testament to the value Smackover Lithium puts on education and community engagement as the joint venture invests in critical mineral projects in Southwest Arkansas. We are excited that Smackover Lithium has also committed to traveling with LiTHIUMLEARNS and the Mobile STEM Lab as we visit K-12 school districts."

In addition to the contribution, Smackover Lithium engineers and volunteers will join educators in the LiTHIUMLEARNS Mobile STEM Lab to deliver first-hand experiences and share what a future career may look like in lithium industry.

“STEM education ignites a child’s curiosity and creativity helping to develop confidence, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The mobile lab will also reach students in rural areas who may not have otherwise had access to this type of education,” said Chad Martin, Vice President of US Operations at Standard Lithium. “We are delighted to support LiTHIUMLEARNS and join its efforts to prepare students for real-world challenges and develop essential skills that will be needed in the industry for years to come.”

The Mobile STEM Lab is set for completion in January 2026, with school visits beginning soon after.
